Nara, revisited.
Tuesday 2004-11-16
I got up before 7 am today. It was bright and sunny - the first really sunny day since I arrived in Kyoto. Since the weather was so nice, I decided to return to Nara. But first I ran some errands in town. Then I took the train to Nara and arrived about 10 am. This was a very nice day so there were a lot more people in Nara than there were yesterday. Since I enjoyed the Kasuga Taisha shrine and park so much yesterday I decided to start there today. I spent a lot of time there and took a lot of photos. Then I went to the Todai-ji Temple. It's very famous and I recognized it instantly from photos. There is a huge Buddha statue in the temple. The deer were everywhere today. It was fun watching the people feed them and watching the children play with them. I left Nara and took the train back to Kyoto. In Kyoto I had yet another great Japanese dinner at a nice restaurant. Then I walked back to the hostel. I checked the weather forcast and found that it was supposed to be sunny again tomorrow. Two days in a row! Later in the evening I was reading in the common room and started talking with Chiharu and Taro, 2 Japanese tourists who were visiting Kyoto. We had a very good time and ended up talking until 2am.
