Mostly Shinjuku today
Tuesday 2004-11-09
I got a bit of a late start today. I headed west to Shinjuku, one of my favorite places in Tokyo. Shinjuku is the high rise, neon, ultra-modern section of Tokyo. Everything moves at a very fast pace. I love it there because of all the energy. And because of all the people. Shinjuku station is one of, if not the, busiest train / subway stations in the world. It's truly massive. Over 2 million people use it each day. I sucessfully navigated through the station (no small feat), emerged from the station and headed for Shinjuku Gyoen, a wonderful park in the heart of Tokyo. Everything in Japan seems to be an art and flowers are no exception. In early November they have the annual Chrysanthemum Exhibition. The flowers are just incredible. I spent a long time strolling in the park, then went back to the main shopping area of Shinjuku. Being a photographer I had to check out Bic camera store. It's an unbelievable place. Not only do they have every piece of camera equipment known to man, they also have tons of computers and other high tech toys. Next it was back to Ginza for another visit to the free internet at the Apple Store and then a nice warm Starbucks latte. That's all folks!
